I had fun with this technique over at Splitcoast. It's called Wrapped Yarn Resist Trees and you can see how its done here. I hope you can tell these are birch trees.
I wrapped my watercolor cardstock in yarn. Sprayed the card with Distress Mica Sprays - purple and green. Let dry before removing the yarn. With a sharpie marker, I drew the birch trees. Added pumpkin image and bat image flying over. I also used some orange Nuvo drops on the part of the pumpkin and green Pops of Color from Scrapbook.com to the bat's hat for some added color texture.
I do like the Mica Sprays. They are very shimmery.
