How do you like my new background?

Since I am love with these Gorjuss girls, I found these wonderful blog backgrounds to use. Check them out here

Made this for my friend Erin

who got a new dog last week. His name is Wilbur. Isn't that a cute name for a boy dog?

A busy week ahead for us

We have a busy week ahead of us. Charlie has his rotator cuff surgery at 7:30 am on Thursday. We have to be there at 6 am and I will "sneak" out to come home and get Nicholas to school by 8:30. Its a 2 hour operation and we should be home by noon. Charlie will start his physical therapy right away on Monday and will go 2-3 times a week.

We hope to get the first batch of "Round Up" out on all the weeds. With all the rain we've had this past week, you should see the weeds poking up in the driveway. They are literally taking over!! So we will do this once it warms up (its only 39 degrees right now as I am typing this). We have to go pick up Charlie's sling at the orthopedic office. I was watching a you tube video last night on someone who recently had this surgery and he told how he bought a couple of XXXXL tshirts, cut one side of them up to the arm hole and then added velcro tabs so Charlie won't have to lift his arm up (he won't be able to for several weeks) so I plan to do this.

Magnolia Easter image

Susan sent me some new Easter images so I am making Easter cards today. How do you like this one?
Stamp by Magnolia
Easter punch from Stamp Shack
Nestability Labels 4
Copic markers to color
Punched holes were in paper when I bought it (on clearance)

Another Easter card

I thought I had my Easter cards all done, then I remembered someone I forgot so I made one more. I got this cute Easter bunny image from Susan and its by High Hopes Rubber Stamps. I colored him with my Copic markers and my Twinkling H20's. I had attempted to make my own pearls and that was not working. I used my hot glue gun to make pearls and then tried to color them with different things but nothing seemed to work. So this card does not have any pearls, homemade or store bought. I just gave up!!

Homemade glue dots

Over at Splitcoast Stampers, I saw a thread about homemade glue dots. I thought I would give it a try. You need parchment paper (wax paper does not work) and Aileene's Tack It Over and Over glue (I could only find this at Michael's). Put the glue in dots onto the parchment paper, let dry overnight and voila, your own glue dots. They will dry more clear than they are here.

Looky, I'm in another magazine

Yep, I got my free copy today of Scrap & Stamp and I have 3 cards in it. YEAH for me!!! Now my goal is try and get on the COVER ... I have not been on the cover yet.

Nicholas - Before and after

Yesterday Nicholas came home from school saying he wanted to get his haircut. He said he wanted it ALOT shorter. I made the appt and we went today after school. Amanda kept asking him if he was sure and he said yes so she started cutting!! He seems pretty happy with it so I'm glad about that.

We have had about 2" of rain over the past few days. My tulips are loving it!!!

My new Martha Stewart bird punch

I knew this bird punch would be perfect for my latest Gorjuss girl and Leanne Ellis stamps. I hope you aren't getting tired of these stamps, its all I seem to be using lately :). I just love them!!
I also have been looking everywhere for the heart border punch by Martha Stewart too. I finally found it at Ellen Hutson's website. I ordered them on Monday and I got them today (Thurs). I love quick shipping!!

I got my stitches out yesterday. My hand is still sore and tender but that can be expected. I will start massaging it next week along with squeezing a ball.

I made some cards today

Even though I still have my stitches in, I am able to use that hand again (yippee!!). I made some clean and simple cards. Over at SCS, they have a thread each Sunday called "CAS" (clean and simple cards) and they are always cards that you can make up quick and easy. I enjoy looking at them and thought I have been using alot of patterned paper lately so I thought I would make some one layer cards. I like how they came out and I played with my Twinkling H20's also. I cannot take credit for the button tree. I totally CASED it from someone at SCS and you can see her card here.

I've mentioned Facebook a few times on my blog

and the CEO and Founder of Facebook, Mark Z was on Oprah yesterday. This is what I learned:

There are currently over 175,000,000 members on Facebook.
Over the age of 30 is the fastest growing members right now.
Mark Z is 24 years old and he came up with this idea 5 years ago while sitting in his dorm room at Harvard University. 1/2 million people join every single day.
President Obama has the most friends on Facebook and he has 6,000,000.
He recently set up an Oprah Winfrey fan club page. Just search "Oprah" and you will find it (yep, I joined myself!) LOL

Interesting, huh?

My friend Lesa is in a Utube video so this makes her a superstar in my eyes!!

LOL

You have to check out this very powerful video by James House. Its only 3 min and 15 sec long. Lesa has battled breast cancer this past year and is winning the fight! She is the one with the beautiful bald head in the video. Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Q4BSDMuhiA ..

Love ya Lesa!!

Assembling cards before my surgery

I had assembled these cards BEFORE my surgery so all I had to do was color and add the images. I was hoping to get these Gorjuss girls before my surgery but they came the same day I had my surgery. This is what I made with them.

Happy Birthday Charlie!!

He was sick in bed yesterday all day with what we assume was the flu. He woke up feeling much better today which is good.

I am slowly able to use my left hand more. Or at least my fingers. I can type with 2 hands again but slow. I go back to the orthopedic dr tomorrow so we'll see if he changes the "dressing". I am not expecting him to take out the stitches just yet since its only been 10 days. I think he said he likes to wait the full 2 weeks before the stitches come out so I will have to go back next week for that (I think).

I did go to my blood pressure dr today and my bp was way too high - 150/105 or something like that. She said it could be because of the pain I do have in my hand or because of all the Motrin I have been taking for the pain could cause it. I am now taking 2 Lisinoprils a day so we'll see if that helps.

Emily has a soccer game tonight so I am going to that for a little bit.

Today I've had a bit more pain

than the previous days but still doing ok. I decided I would try and stamp with my right hand (surgery is on the left) and I colored some of my new Gorjuss girls. I can't seem to make a whole card just yet so this will have to do!

Its Wednesday and I'm still doing good

The pain isn't too bad at all. I slept off and on most of yesterday but today I got up, put my arm in a plastic bag and took a shower. That was a challenge but I did it!

That's all I have to report. Charlie and the kids are looking after me pretty good!!!

Carpal tunnel surgery is over

and I'm learning to type with one hand. Due to snow, surgery was delayed 2 hours so I went in at 12:15, had surgery by 1:30, home by 3:00. I'm doing good so far but then I am still numb from everything.

Alot of the snow is melted but we will have a 2 hour delay with school tomorrow.

We woke up to snow on the ground

No school today. My carpal tunnel surgery has been 2 hours delayed so now I go in at 12:15 for a 1:45 surgery time. Just took these photos ...

Old Memories ...

Facebook is new to me but in the past 2 months, 3 people from my past have found me. I already wrote about Diane and Laura, now its Heidi, from Largo Middle School. We go way back, some 30+ years!! She found me yesterday, she looked up my maiden name and there I was. She sent me a note, I sent one back, we chatted online this morning. She remembered when we went to the fair (in Largo, FL) and we wore "Vinnie Barbarino" (as in John Travolta from Welcome Back Kotter) tshirts. LOL How funny that she remembered that of all things. It just cracks me up!! Its great to be back in touch, after all these years. Heidi lives outside of Atlanta, GA with her husband and 2 teenage boys. I hope we keep in contact.

Its raining like crazy now but we could get up to 6" of snow

tonight and tomorrow. I am scheduled to have carpal tunnel surgery tomorrow at 11:45 am so depending on the weather situation, I may or may not go. I am sure they don't cancel surgery because of snow but you never know about things around here, especially since we don't get that much of the white stuff. I am sure we can get out with Charlie's car since he has 4wd. I bet school will be cancelled too. If you don't hear from me for a few days, its because I am not typing with just one hand. LOL At least its my left hand and not my right!!
