Look what we found in garden yesterday

We have about 10-12 cantelopes getting ready to ripen. We picked these 2 yesterday and boy are they sweet!! They are so good!!

What do you get when you cross a very heavy frying pan, my glasses and the bridge of my nose?

That is the question of the day. HA You can only guess what is coming next but I thought I would type it here just once so I am not telling the story over and over to my mom, sister, Amy, etc. So .... yesterday was Aubrey's brother (Aubrey is Charlie's brother). He shares his birthday with their mother but this year she decided she was going to Charlestown, WV to do some gambling with friends (she is 84). So in years past, she has always been with Aubrey and they celebrate their birthdays together. This year she will come down in a few weeks and we will celebrate it all over again. So ... I made spaghetti for dinner and I was cleaning the dishes. I was actually drying this huge frying pan - this was one heavy frying pan - so how this happened I have no idea .... but while I was drying it, I guess I put it close to my face so I can see if I got it dry enough before I put it away and it slipped out my hand and went flying into my glasses which caused my glasses to press into the bridge of my nose. It hurt like crazy!!! It only bled a little and I thought for sure I would have a black & blue nose this morning but its just a tiny little scab there now and my nose is a tiny bit swollen but not too bad at all. So that is my story. I laugh now but it was not funny at the time! (Debbie, I know you are laughing out loud if you are reading this. Stop it right now!)

So my friend Robin called me yesterday to take her to the mall ...

Why was I so excited to take her to the mall? Well, I have known Robin now for 13 years. We met when our 2 girls were in pre-school together in NC. I immediately grew a friendship with her. Robin is 41 and was diagnosed 6 years ago with Stage 4 breast cancer. She was determined to beat it and still has not given up. She now has it in her bones, hip, spine, and now liver. She has gone off chemo treatments and the doctors say there's nothing more they can do. Hospice has been called in and they come to her house every Thursday to take her blood pressure, listen to her heart and see if she needs more pain meds. She is just so amazing and I am so glad I have her in my life. So back to what I was saying ... I have been telling Robin "call me if you need anything" and she finally did!!! I took her to the mall and we shopped to get her husband an anniversary present. They've been married 21 years tomorrow. She found the PERFECT gift and I can't give it away just in case he sees this (right Jeff?). We had a great day shopping, I pushed her in her wheelchair and just like the last time I pushed her around, I jammed the back of her wheelchair into my right shin. OUCH!! I now have a bruise there but we had a good laugh just like last time. I am going to try and spend as much as time as I can with her since we have no idea how long she has. Its just so sad!! Cancer STINKS!!

Just got back from my garden and look what I came back with

Lots and lots of veggies. I decided to toss out my cucumber plants since they were doing so bad anyway. They were so bitter tasting. But all of the other veggies are doing great. Look, its a feast!!! And here is Ladybug looking "pitiful" because she wants to eat these veggies. lol
