I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a great day yesterday. We cooked a turkey breast, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, macaroni and cheese, mexican corn, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and an apple pie. Had a great day over at our daughter's house. She has her Christmas tree up and all decorated and everything looks so festive. We will get ours up this week!
Have you seen Anita Jeram's latest new Christmas stamps yet? They just came out last week and holy cow, are they the cutest?? You can find them here at Colorado Craft Company. This stamp is one of hers and it came out in the Spring sometime. I just love all her illustrations!! And yes, I bought 3 of the new stamp sets so I will have to stamp a few Christmas cards with those.
I also joined this Facebook group called The Angel Card Project and they send out cards year round to those in need. They are currently working on Christmas cards to all around the USA. I signed up for that list and there are almost 800 names on that list alone. You can send to 1 person or as many as you want. They were recently featured in Better Homes & Garden and it says they send out 100,000 cards annually. I am so excited to be a part of this group. It's a really great group.

I made 2 of these cards - one with splatters of paint for snow and this one has no snow. I learned how to do this beam of light in Kristina Werner's online holiday card class a few weeks ago. I used Distress Oxides and blended the background. Cut out a triangle and used it as a mask and then used Hero Arts white pigment ink for the beam of light. I decided not to add a sentiment and I put one in the inside of the card.

I masked off the top and bottom to make these pumpkins in a straight line. I saw this technique somewhere online but I can't remember where. It was really easy to do!

In last week's holiday online Christmas class with Kristina Werner, we learned how to make a light coming from a lantern and it's quite easy. For the background, I blended Oxide inks onto already blue cardstock (instead of white cardstock that I always do!) and this was much easier to blend on it since you use less ink to cover it up. For the snow, I sprayed on a mist of Avery Elle white spray. Easy peasy!

I recently joined this Facebook group called The Angel Card Project. They send out cards to those who need them year round. They are getting ready to send out Christmas cards and looking for more volunteers. It's a wonderful organization.
You can sign up here.
Here's another "Wrapped Yarn Resist" card. Some people used acrylic paints, some people used Oxide inks. I chose acrylic paints. I figured if this little girl could do it in the video, certainly I could do it so I did it exactly like she did and to my surprise, I can actually see trees !!! YAY!! You really need to try it. It's fun and easy!!!

Wrap cardstock with yarn. I tied mine on the back so it stayed tight. |
Using a cotton ball, dab on paints. I used acrylic paints. Don't brush it on, just dab it on. |
Take off the yarn and let dry. Acrylic paints dry super fast so you won't have to wait long. Then using a Zig black thin marker, draw your trees. So easy!! |
This is Day 6 of Kristina Werner's online holiday card class this week. I had to skip days 2-5 because I did not have the materials I needed but I was able to do this stenciled Christmas tree. Today Laura Bassen taught us how to stencil shapes with light and dark shades of color. It took me 2 tries but I like how it came out. (I kept smudging the inks)
Did you know there is a Santa's Bag app for the iphone and I have used it for 5 years and it helps me keep organized. I love it and its free. According to the app, there are only 45 days until Santa comes. Who has started their Christmas shopping? I have gotten a few things :).

I'm so glad I got my Thanksgiving cards and Christmas cards mostly done when I did. My thumbs are hurting pretty bad and I am limited to how much time I can spend stamping. My surgery is scheduled for January 10th. That seems like a long time away!!

Meet Stevie the Walrus. Purple Onion Designs came out with some really cute stamps last week and he is just one of them. Isn't he the cutest? I am sending this to an online friend who turns 89 soon and she lives in England. We have never met in person but she was a stamper "way back in the day" she tells me and her and I "met" playing the game Ruzzle on our cell phones. LOL (It's a word game) Now we are Facebook friends and we have even talked to each other a few times over Facetime during the pandemic and I really enjoyed that.
Purple Onion Designs is based out of NY and I was impressed I got their stamps all the way in NC in just 2 days!! Talk about great customer service!! Check them out.

Kristina Werner's Day of Online Holiday Card Workshop 2021 class started this week. It was a lot of fun and we made 2 cards on Monday. There was another card to make but I threw out my back so I have been nursing it with a heating pad most of the week. Her class runs for 12 days and you can see all about it here. I used Distress Oxide inks for the background with splatters of white acrylic paint for the snow. Die cut by Sizzix. I chose not to add a sentiment for fear I would mess it up. It took me SEVERAL tries to get this one just right!
