I'm excited to be the Featured Creator with the Make the Card Challenge this week and the challenge is a color challenge. I used this stamp set by Taylored Expressions and I just love this little dog in his "homemade boat". I stamped the background stripes using Concord & 9th's Peek Through Pattern Stamp Set and I used Catherine Pooler inks - Coral Cabana, Fiesta Blue, Lime Rickey and Grape Crush.

TGIF - Stamp Your Own Designer Paper
First hummingbird of the season!! I usually don't see them until after April 1st but I heard they were here early so I'm glad I put my feeders out. |
On my walk this morning, I saw these beautiful trees. I'm not even sure what kind they are? Cherry blossom trees maybe? They were all over this park!! |
Here is another card using the Lift the Paint technique and you can see it here at Splitcoast. You will need the following: acrylic paints, diaper wipe, stencil and a brayer. Here, I used 4 colors: pink, orange, lime green, and purple.
I took a piece of heavy cardstock (I did not use waterproof paper and it worked just fine) and I dripped some dots of acrylic paint onto the paper. Brayer colors together. Immediately, while still wet, place stencil on top and go over stencil with baby wipe using a swiping motion. Let dry. I, then stamped the 2021 numbers on it and had to use a black sharpie marker to fill in some of the black ink. I made this for my godchild Mindy who graduates from college in May and she will be a Kindergarten teacher this Fall.

My Time to Craft - Stencil It
I learned this new technique at Splitcoast called 3D Sentiment with Vanishing Words. You can see Lidia's youtube video here. It's very easy and I think this would make a great masculine card that I sometimes find hard to do from time to time. Lidia used a word die cut but I literally only have 1 word die cut which I think is "HELLO" so I used a large stamp instead.

This was a challenge over at Splitcoast this week and this is the first time I made a Diamond Fold card. It was easy once I watched the video and you can see it here. I will definitely be making more of these. You start off with a 4" x 12" piece of patterned paper. I have lots of those! :)
I think I will send this to our daughter who turns 29 in a couple of months. She recently closed on her very first townhouse and we are so excited for her for the next chapter in her life.
Just FYI, if you are in the US and you want to mail one of these, it will cost an additional 20 cents (due to it being "non-machineable) to mail which means it will cost 75 cents to mail. Just a heads up!

So if you are in the US and have not been to Hobby Lobby lately, you may be surprised that they no longer offer their 40% off coupon on anything in the store. Last week, all their stamps were 40% off and I came across these new stamps (to me) by Tracey Hey. She is in the UK so I had never heard of her stamps before. Hobby Lobby had 6 sets and I got all but one set (they were out of the 1 set). I decided to use 2 sets for this card for this color challenge with Just Us Girls this week.

I am ready for Spring. Flowers and trees are blooming all around us but the temps are still so cold in the mornings. I even put up my hummingbird feeder yesterday hoping to see an early bird. They've been spotted in GA and SC so let's hope they come here too :). I love my hummers!!

I won the last challenge at CAS on Sunday so I was picked to be this week's Guest Designer. The challenge is music so here is my card. I recently bought the newest stamps by Anita Jeram that are sold at Colorado Craft Company and decided to make a Mother's Day card using this stamp set. Mother's Day in the US is May 9th this year. I hope you'll enter this fun music challenge.

I can't wait to make more of these ice cream cones for the summer. This digi came out at the end of last summer (I think) and I didn't make very many of them but will definitely make them this summer. I made this into a slimline card. Colored with my Copic markers. I sure could use a waffle cone right about now :).

It's St. Patrick's Day in the US today and this is our grand-dog, Tino. Isn't he the cutest leprechaun? This was taken a few years ago. He's almost 10 now. Our daughter rescued him when he was 8 weeks old from an animal shelter and he has been the best dog! I am part Irish so I will be wearing my green all day long :).

I love all these Gus & Gertie stamps by Taylored Expressions. Ever since I used them on my Christmas cards for my dog lovers, I had to get these additional 3 sets. They are so adorable and no coloring is needed except for the bird :).

I tried a new technique called Lift the Paint and you can see it here at Splitcoast. You will need the following: acrylic paints, diaper wipe, stencil and a brayer. Here, I used 4 colors: pink, orange, lime green, and purple.

A Place to Start - Pick a Shape (I chose Ellipse)
Beyond the Blue - Use What You've Got (I had made this background waiting for the perfect little image to add to it and I decided to add this cute mouse by Unity)

I finally got a few Easter cards made. I've had a few comments on my Instagram page and someone thought this was strips of ribbon, but I actually used patterned paper for the strips. I just glued them down and cut them to the edge of the paper.

Our son took a day off work yesterday and asked if I wanted to go on a hike with him. Well, of course I do.
We drove about 55 minutes to Crowders Mountain outside of Gastonia, NC and we hiked 6 miles UP and down rocks and wooden stairs. Took us almost 3 hours and I was feeling it on the last mile!! Here are some pics. It was a beautiful 73 degree day!!
Yes, we had hiked all the way to the top and back down. Whew!! |
Not too great selfie of us but the best I could do. |
15,000 steps later and I was exhausted!! |
