Teacher Appreciation Week is next week and I made my godchild a card for each day of the week next week. I sealed them each in an envelope with the day of the week on them. This is her first year of teaching kindergarten.

Have you ever heard of yarn blocking? Me neither!! Splitcoast had this challenge this week and you can see it here. You take some yarn and wrap it around a block and then dip it in white acrylic paint and you get this look of rain or snow falling. My poor bear is getting really wet here since his umbrella is barely big enough to cover him up. LOL I think it would look really great on dark cardstock and turn out even better!!

Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May2-6 and I made this card for my godchild Mindy who is in her first year of teaching kindergarten. For this card, I used this old set from Stamping Bella and for the book she’s holding, I got a Mickey Mouse image online as she is a huge Disney lover. I also paper pieced her dress in tiny Minnie Mouse. The rest is watercolored. I went around the edge of the white cardstock in Pixie Dust Catherine Pooler ink as I had a tiny smudge when I got all done and I had to cover it up with something. LOL It matched the cardstock perfectly.

Nothing says spring time to me, like tulips! I love them but they don't bloom very long. They are now in full bloom everywhere near me and I just love to look at them when I walk at the park nearby. This tulip stencil by Unity Stamps is so easy to line up. It's 3 steps - 2 are the flower petals and one is the leaves. I did a challenge over at Splitcoast that was called Torn paper faux which is what I did to the edge of this card in black. I tore some paper then blended black ink over top so it looks torn. I love this card because it isn't as bulky as some cards are if I were to use all die cuts. The vertical sentiment is by Waffle Flower and I find myself using these A LOT since I got them last month. Waffle Flower die cuts come pre-cut and on a magnetic sheet and I wish ALL products came like that.

Here's another Gruffie bear getting stuffed with chocolates. This was the 2nd bear stamp that my friend Meg sent me from Scotland and I just love them both so much!! I stamped all around the edges of the card with the individual chocolate pieces, then cut him out using my Wonky Stitches rectangle die cuts by Gina Marie Designs. I watercolored him and voila, all done! Inside the card reads "Have a Bearytastic Day!"
House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge - Anything Goes/Optional Stitching
Say hello to one of the Gruffie bears. I was fortunate enough to get this awesome stamp from my good friend Meg - all the way from Scotland. He is so fun to color and I did this for a challenge over at Splitcoast last month. You can see it here and it's called the Layered Retiform technique. You can watch the tutorial here. I really like making my own backgrounds and will definitely be making more of these for future cards.
