I forgot to tell you all about our chickens ...

Actually they won't be "our" chickens but they will be in our barn. Our next door neighbor who is who we bought our house from and they have since built next door to us is dying to have some chickens so he can have some fresh eggs. We have a chicken coop down by the barn and its just got 1 rooster in it so he called yesterday asking if he bought some chickens could he put them down there. He will do everything, take care of everything so we said yes. We have no idea when these chickens will be coming but my bet is this weekend before Charlie changes his mind! ha ha

As far as the alpacas go, we have decided for now NOT to get any. We have been hearing reports of coyotes being seen in the area so I don't think it would be smart to invest all this $$ in these expensive animals only to have them eaten by a coyote :(. So we are still looking into a pair of llamas but haven't made any decisions yet. They are MUCH CHEAPER than alpacas. At least they are "doable".

We have soccer in about an hour so I better get Emily to that...

How long does it take for a coyote to eat an alapaca? Wouldn't the chickens be easier for them to eat? What about the llama's? Or do coyotes have standards & won't eat a lower cost animal??

Sorry, I'm a born smart alec. One of the many charming personality traits my dd inherited.

You're going to have an absolute menagerie before long! Hope you get some fresh eggs, too!

Nothing like a fried "fresh" chicken egg. You will taste the difference, hopefully they let you have some. And yeah, i think the coyotes would be going after the chickens too, so see how long they last before you get your llamas. Hope Emily has a good game.
