My new Big Kick
I got a Big Kick last week. AC Moore had them 40% off so I got one for myself as an early birthday present. I have been wanting the Big Shot but as far as I can tell, they are alot alike except the colors are different and since this one was on sale and they had them in stock, I went ahead and got it. I also got this scallop plate to go with it and made this cute card. I have used this Amuse Mandy stamp many times!! Isn't she cute?

Buttons, buttons
....I have been wanting this set from Papertrey for quite awhile so I finally ordered it. It took a little more than a week to get it and I was becoming impatient but was happy when it came yesterday. I also bought 2 packs of buttons and their Raspberry Fizz patterned paper. The stamps are clear and I am not usually a fan of clear stamps but I had fun playing with my new stamps. I made these 2 cards for my "stash".
I get to sell prom tickets at lunch at the high school today for 2 hours. They are $50 each and their prom is at the Speedway Club this year April 24th.

Its not often Emily asks me to make a homemade card
so when she did, I got a little excited!! LOL The kindergarten teacher she helps in the mornings made Teacher of the Year so I made her a card. I searched all through my stamps to see if I had any teacher stamps and I did not. I had a school bus but I wanted a teacher image. I went to Splitcoast asking if anyone knew where I could find a digital teacher image and voila, here she is. I think she was perfect for this card.
Digital image by Sassy Studio Designs. I used black chalk on the chalkboard then I wrote in white gel pen "Teacher of the Year". I used my cuttlebug for the background and then inked it all over. I really love that effect!!

Some "summery" cards
Since the temps are warming up, its time to think about Spring/Summer so I made a few cards this past weekend after not stamping for over 2 weeks while I was sick ... Felt good to get "inky" again!!
1st card - Tree stamp by Stampin Up and I added a tire swing (my newest stamp by Impression Obsession). Also, used MS grass punch. Paper by 3 bugs in a rug.
2nd card - Tree stamp by Eat Cake Graphics, again added the tire swing. Girl by Amuse. Also, used MS ladybug border punch on the side. Paper by 3 bugs in a rug.

Prom!!
Emily's senior prom is coming April 24th. We have been to 4 different prom places for dresses and we finally found one last night. This one is a fuschia pink and we both fell in love with it as soon as she put it on. Now to find shoes!!! Her "prom date" is 6'1" (and a friend) so she wants to wear heels. I am thinking silver shoes would look great with this, don't ya think?????? It needs to be altered so I just took these hanging on the door.

My review on Flower Soft - Ultra Fine
I was at my stamp store in Mooresville the other day and I saw she had some of the brand new Flower Soft in Ultra Fine. I bought a tiny bottle of it in the color "Sand". Brenda said it is perfect for pretend sand on a card or even using it for furry animals. I decided to try it on this card I made. I love this pig image by Magenta. Isn't it cute? I found that pig image at the Stamp Shack in Ft Lauderdale when Traci and I were last week. I have no idea what I am going to do with this pig image but we both cracked up when we saw it. Then it hit me, I would make a get well card with it. I put on the inside "I hope you're jumping again over fences real soon". LOL Certainly that would cheer someone up who is sick don't you think?????? So I do like it. It is definitely ALOT finer than the regular Flower Soft. It comes in all different colors and I think I may have to go back and get more.

Happy Birthday to Charlie!!
I got this book for Charlie while I was down in Hobe Sound. The author, Dan Mackin, lives in Hobe Sound and he paints these awesome paintings and is well known around Hobe Sound. My friend Jan had his book on her coffee table. I picked up her book and was enjoying his beautiful paintings inside the book. I knew right away that Charlie would love this book so Jan called Dan's wife (they are friends) and asked if we could go over and buy a book. We went right over and I bought the book and then I found a beautiful painting Dan had painted and bought that too for Charlie. What a way to shop !! Charlie loves his gifts and I did great!! LOL

My reviews on UNCP ...
We had our tour at UNCP (University of NC at Pembroke) today. Got there at 11 and the lights were all turned off in the hallway and no one was in sight. Charlie kept saying "Are you sure it was today?" "Did you get the time right?" "Why isn't anyone here?" Finally, around 11:10, the admissions officer showed up saying she didn't realize the door was locked. LOL
So we go on our tour. Its in Pembroke, NC. 120 miles from home. Mostly back country roads to get there which is nice. Its in a small town with only about 2,500 people (if that many). Its 90 miles from the beach so that's nice too. The kids were all on spring break so it was super quiet around campus (also explained why the lights were out in the hallways)
We all liked it very much. We looked in a co-ed dorm room, an all-girls dorm room and a single room. Emily prefers the co-ed dorm rooms. Boys on one side of the hall and girls on the other. Its a small campus, compared to others we had looked at. About 6,500 kids go there. The dorm rooms were rather "large" too compared to other campus's we had looked at.
Open house is April 10th. They are expecting at least 2,500 people and probably more than that since they had to cancel the one in Feb due to snow. They will divide the people up between those who have been accepted and those who are just looking so I think we will go to that.
The classes are kept small. The student to teacher ratio is 14:1 which I really think is PERFECT!!!

Some of you have been asking about the squirrels ...
These squirrels are WILD SQUIRRELS but they seem very tame. Nancy in the one photo with the squirrel on her shoulder lives at the beginning of our street in Hobe Sound (house still has not sold :( ) and her and her husband come down to the end of the street where we are and feed the squirrels every night. They have them all named and can tell "Peaches" from "Taffy" and "Taffy" from "Cupcake". I can't tell the difference and I don't think Traci could either but Rick and Nancy can tell. They feed them peanuts and hazelnuts and they will climb up your leg if you happen to have jeans on. They did that to me and I didn't even have any nuts in my hand. So that is the story on the squirrels.
I am slowly getting better. I ran a 102 fever yesterday for most of the day. I had my first stamp club meeting yesterday but I had to tell the girls I couldn't make it since I felt so bad. I'm sure they do not want me getting them sick.
Tomorrow we have Emily's tour at UNCP and I am going no matter what!!!! Its at 11 am so we don't have to leave really early. Its an hour long tour so it won't last too long even if I don't feel so great. I am anxious to see where it is since we haven't been there yet. It was voted one of the best in the southeast so that's exciting!!!

Some cards I made while in FL
.................... Do you see the ornament fish??? That is made out of the Stampin Up ornament punch and I think it came out so cute. I made 2 cards, each one different but I'm still looking for the other card. I need to finish unpacking. LOL I actually saw that idea on Splitcoast but I honestly can't remember who it was. I drew on the mouths and I used a tiny circle punch for their eyes. I used patterned paper for their bodies.
