I'm Here For You

I tried a new technique to me called Brick Wall. You stamp your image onto patterned paper and do some measuring and cutting apart the squares to make what looks like a brick wall. My squares are not even but it's the best I could do. It took me 3 tries to get this right!! You can see the tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers here. I made this before my surgery.

Congratulations Ryan!

I made this card completely with my left hand. It took me about an hour and a few tries to get it right but I made this for my one of my cousin's twins who will graduate from Texas A&M this Spring. (I had thumb surgery 2 weeks ago so not able to use my dominant hand for 3 whole months)

I was worried I wouldn't be able to stencil left handed but it was actually pretty easy!

Hello

It's been 2 1/2 weeks since my thumb surgery and I'm healing nicely. It has been a lot more painful than I was expecting but dr says it will get a lot better as time goes on. I managed to get in a 2 mile walk yesterday since it had warmed up to 60 degrees but now the cold temps are back and I probably won't get back out there till later next week. None of my heavier coats fit over my right hand.

I was able to get a removable splint put on so I can take it off in the shower only. Otherwise it will stay on for another month and then a much smaller splint will go on for another 2 months!

I was excited when I could hold
my chapstick with that hand lol

Sending a blizzard of hugs your way

Here I tried a tri-shutter card read the this tutorial here and watch the video here over at Splitcoast. I made the smaller version and she put the measurements on there. It's really very easy once you get all the measurements correct. Took me a few tries but I got it on the 3rd try. My paper cutter is so old, a lot of the markings are rubbed off and if you don't get the measurements 100% correct, it won't fold right. So I had to go back with a regular ruler, measure and then do it that way.

Sending You a Hug and a Cup of Good Cheer

Well, it's been 6 days since my thumb surgery and I'm doing much better than I was. The first 3 days were pretty painful but I'm on the mend so ... I get my stitches out on Thursday and a removable brace put on then too. No crafting for awhile longer but I made this card weeks ago.

Bear in the woods

My thumb surgery is scheduled for Monday morning so I won't be able to craft for about 2-3 MONTHS. What will I do? Let's hope I recover quicker than they estimate so I can get back to it ASAP. I know I will miss it. If I post some cards after this post, it means they were already made :). Wish me luck!!

Blue snowmen

I made this mini 3x3 snowman card for a homeless man who has been sleeping on a bench at the library I walk by. I stamped it Merry Christmas on the inside, stuck a little bit of money in it and stuck it in his shoe. I hope it made his Christmas!

Happy Birthday

Yesterday I had to get a Covid test for my upcoming thumb surgery which is next Monday, Jan 10th. Our cases are way up in NC right now :(.

Here's this cute polar bear again on another wintery card I made. I think he is perfect for male winter birthdays!! A very simple card to make!

Thank You Snow Much

This snowman I fell in love with from Colorado Craft Co. I made a few thank you cards this Christmas and this is the one I found myself reaching for over and over. For the background, we learned how to do this technique called "Delft Tile" and you can find it at Splitcoast here. You can watch the video here. I love the effect and will definitely make more of these with many different stamps.

Watercolored Mushroom

This mushroom was a challenge on Splitcoast. I had never drawn a mushroom before but I was pleased how this came out. You can see the other mushrooms here. Here's the video we watched to draw it.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!!  2-0-2-2  Can you believe it!!?? I fell asleep before midnight last night. We had our grand-dog Tino here with us for the night and him and I posed for a picture wearing our 2022 glasses :). (see below) Plus one with just him in the glasses. LOL

This was my attempt at aurora lights in the night time sky. I did some Oxide ink blending for the sky. Then I stamped the trees (Momenta stamps), used Hero Arts white pigment ink and did swiping motions for the light effect. The bear is a die cut by Spellbinders I found recently at Hobby Lobby. For a little of sparkle on the snow, I added some Distress Mica Flakes and I glued those down by just using some drops of Glossy Accents and letting the flakes fall where they fall. (Tim Holtz advised to add the flakes this way, just let them land where they fall instead of trying to place them in certain spots)
