I will walrus be your friend

Here's another triangle card working with this sketch. I love this walrus set by Stampin Up. All stamps are by a different company but I kinda like how it came out.

For this week's challenge at Cut It Up, we are to make a card using this Tic Tac Toe chart. I am doing Any Sketch, Brads/Bling and Design Paper. The sketch I am using can be found here. I got my moose image from Stinkin' Cute paper Piecings and you can find them here. I can't wait to see what you do for this challenge at Cut It Up. Please remember to use a die cut for this challenge.

You're slothsome

It's Thanksgiving Day here in the US and it's the first time I am not cooking in 30 YEARS!! We are going to our daughter's boyfriend's house for dinner and I have to bring 1 dish - I'm bringing Mountain Dew Apples. It's so GOOD!!! You can find the recipe here.

Have you seen the brand new masking stencils by Taylored Expressions? Oh my. Here's the link if you want to see them. They have 4 different ones, circles, ovals, rectangles and squares. I had to get all 4 because after watching a few videos I was convinced 1) they are a game changer 2) I can't just pick one size. This masking stencil made this card sooooo easy to create. Just place the stencil on your paper, blend your fave ink using a blending brush, then place another stencil over top while still taped to sheet of paper and use your blending brush to put the stencil on top of the circle. I am not sure this makes any sense but that's how I did it. Easy peasy!! I colored this sloth with my Koi watercolor paints and then fussy cut around him and added him to the card. The sentiment is computer generated because the only sloth sayings I have are "birthday sayings". Also, Taylored Expressions is in Iowa (I'm in NC) and I ordered them last Thursday and I got them on Monday. 3 days!!! I love fast service!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!! I'm so thankful for all of you who read my blog and leave me comments. I really do appreciate it!

Adulting is hard, friends help

I stamped this adorable moose from Purple Onion Designs onto kraft cardstock. Then I stamped his scarf and mittens onto white cardstock, colored them in red and paper pieced it back onto the moose. I am sending this to a friend battling breast cancer.

Birthday Blessings

I have to get a birthday card out and I love this image by Unity Stamps. It's perfect for "winter" birthday cards or anything in the cold months. (It's not even winter yet but it sure has felt like it the past few days in North Carolina) For the stripes, I brushed on these 2 colors using Catherine Pooler's Aquatini and Icing on the Cake. I then, watercolored the rest of the image. If you haven't tried her inks yet, I HIGHLY recommend them. You can watercolor with them or just use them straight to paper. I love that in an ink pad :).  I have about 1/2 the colors and I hope to get the others with any Christmas money I get from Santa :).

A little Hello

I must admit this is one of the hardest challenges I have done all year but this is the exact reason why I do so many challenges a year is that it makes me think "outside the box". First, I drew a triangle onto a piece of paper and I then stamped my scene inside that triangle then I cut it out and stuck it onto a card base.

I decided to make a winter card instead of an actual Christmas card so I can send this out during the winter months instead.

Happy 29th Birthday

It's been awhile since I've used vellum on a card and I don't know why I don't use it. I always love the end result. In fact it had been so long since I used vellum I wasn't too sure how to attach it to the card base without the glue showing through. I tried glue dots on a scrap piece of paper and you could definitely see those. What I ended up using was my double sided sticky tape and I can't see it at all. For the ink colors, I used all Oxide inks - Tattered Rose, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, Blueprint Sketch and Tumbled Glass.

Congrats baby!

For the background of this one, I did some watercoloring and I taped off little blocks and let each color dry before adding the next color. I learned this in Kristina Warner's watercolor class last summer.

2020 calendar

Each year I make 2 homemade calendars for 2 of my very good friends for the holidays. I make them 4x6 so they can fit onto a 5x7 picture frame. There's no glass in the frame and it just sits on the table and the calendar pages clip onto it. They can change the page each month. This is my calendar for 2020.

Sending You Some Holiday Cheer

Here's another pull up interactive card I made. These are simple to make with the dies but do take a lot longer than a 5 minute card so I didn't make that many this year. LOL I still love the end result though!

Snowmen Trio

If there was ever a favorite trio of snowmen, these are them!!! I have had these snowmen (by Purple Onion Designs) for YEARS and find I am always using them around the holidays. I love to paper piece his little book with Christmas music. Unity Stamps has another fantastic video that shows a Aurora Borealis sky and I wanted to try it on this card. You can find the technique here. I need to practice more with it but I kinda like how this one came out. Then I added the little Santa with reindeer and I got it a little close to the snowman's head but I'm going with it anyway. What do you think?

Cut It Up Challenge #187 -- "Celebrating Fall"

At Cut It Up this week, our challenge for #187 is "Celebrating Fall". I chose this jar of acorns from The Cutting Cafe to celebrate Fall. I colored it with Copic markers. I would love to see what you create with your festival image at Cut It Up. Please don't forget your die cut.
