Sunburst dog

I recently learned this technique called Sunburst. I used Oxide inks and taped off sections that would not be inked and kept swiping the ink pad directly onto the cardstock and then re-adding more blue tape so not to get the ink colors smeared. This is the result.

Moose in large snow globe

Another great brand new stamp set by Flora & Fauna. I'm getting a head start on my holiday cards with these super cute stamps. I especially love all moose stamps and I had to get this set for sure when I saw him. I added red Stickles glitter to his scarf.  I found the washi tape on sale at Hobby Lobby this week for 40% off. Win-Win!!

Happy Holiday Cheer!

Flora and Fauna came out with their latest Christmas release this week and yes, mine came in the mail yesterday. I love them so much and these will make some real easy CAS cards this year. For this card, I cut out a circle using my Memory Box stitched circle die and then added this cute image and sentiment.

Happy Birthday lighthouse

For this card, I got out my WOW white embossing powder and stamped this lighthouse in Versamark before adding the embossing powder. Then, I used my brushes from The Stamp Market to blend in some of Catherine Pooler's Fiesta Blue ink. I really really love these brushes!! They go on so smooth!

Only 9 1/2 more weeks until Halloween

How cute are these trick-or-treaters? This is a brand new set by My Favorite Things and I had to get it. I made the background using oxide inks then going over the whole background with black soot oxide ink. For the white stars or whatever they are supposed to be, I used a toothbrush with acrylic paint and just splattered it on. The tree is embossed in WOW black powder so it would show up. And I am also loving this grass die cut by MFT too. It comes in both vertical and horizonal and of course, I had to get both versions because I could not decide which one! LOL

Sending lots of love

I saw this technique done at this blog. I used my Oxide inks and put them on the embossing folder, spritzed with water and ran it through my big shot.

I got the chance to see Catherine Pooler at Paper/Crafting Studio (formerly known as Betty's Creative Studio but Betty sold it)  in Greensboro, NC yesterday and she had her brand new Color Bursts along with all her inks, stamps, stencils, dies, etc. I did come home with them and can't wait to play with them. I also came home with some inks, some WOW embossing powders and glitters and some Stamping Bella stamps that were 50% off and I could not resist them. (see photo below)

Craft Supplies

I learned how to make this background from taking Kristina Werner's watercolor class last summer (or was it the summer before last?). Its fun to do. All you need to use some painter's tape to tape down your paper so it doesn't warp from the water and watercolors plus it makes this cute white border all around your card. Then, I measured a square every 3/4" and made each square a different color. Make sure each color dries before adding next color or they will run and some might become that nasty brown color when mixed. I can't seem to get enough of this cute car from The Stamp Market.

Today I am going to see Catherine Pooler at Paper/Crafting Studio in Greensboro. I absolutely love her inks and can't wait to finally meet her. I am very excited to see her brand new Color Bursts that her and Ken Oliver have made up. They just came out this week and I am sure I will be coming home with a pack of those!! I love the CP vibrant colors. I will report back tomorrow on how that went :).

Believe in your strength

Watercolors by Jane Davenport paints
(found at Michael's)

I recently came across an organization called Chemo Angels and you can
find them here. They match up a chemo buddy with a volunteer
who sends them a card or two a week while they are undergoing
chemotherapy. I applied to be a chemo angel 2 weeks ago and
I got approved this week so it took 2 weeks to get my person.
I will be sending my chemo buddy a card or two
every week while she/he is undergoing chemotherapy. They really try and match
us with the perfect person and I am really enjoying the cards
I am making and sending out. For this card, I watched this video and
then I added a sentiment I found online somewhere. I hope she likes it.
So no stamping on this card, just my handwritten lettering
(which I am trying to get better at!)

Sunglass girl

I found this stickable roll of flower paper on sale at Hobby Lobby for $1.99. It's really long and I wasn't too sure what it was but since it looked like washi tape, I picked it up and its great to for quick and easy backgounds like I did on this card.

Singing Trio

For this card, I printed out the words to Winter Wonderland and made them my background for this card. I also paper pieced it in a smaller version on the song book the snowman is holding in the middle. I fussy cut each snowman out and colored them with my Koi watercolors. This is an old favorite stamp by Purple Onion Designs.

Is it too early for a Halloween card?

I know it's hard to think about Fall when its in the 90's out in the Carolina's but I could not resist this cute Halloween stamp set by My Favorite Things. I stopped everything I was doing and had to make this card. (Ok, I made 4 Halloween cards for my stash) Stacey Yacula drew these stamps and I love all of her stamps!! I also got these 2 Tucked In Turf dies from My Favorite Things for the grass. I couldn't decide on the horizontal or vertical so I had to get both. They have tiny blades of grass cut out in 3 places so the characters can go "under" or "behind" the grass. (see pic #2) Is it not genious? Anyway, I had fun doing this galaxy background using my Distress Oxide inks and I used white acrylic paint for the "stars".  You can see the background done here. These trick or treaters are just soooo cute!!!

Sweet Stampin' - Things with Wings

In the top pic, I just inked up the Oxide inks
onto a piece of watercolor cardstock.
In the bottom pic, I added black soot over top
and the white acrylic paint I used a
toothbrush to get the splatters so
it would look like a "galaxy".
It did take me a few tries but I am very happy
with the results :).

These are my first stamps by Stamp Market. They are in South Jordan, Utah and I got them in 3 days.
