Had a little fun with Mr. Opportunity!

Have you seen the latest Honda commercials with Mr. Opportunity? He is either knocking on the window at the honda dealership or he is dancing doing the "knock" dance. LOL Anyway, I had to take my car back in for them to re-do the tinted window on the back. It had a few bubbles in it and they fixed it for me. I took that "opportunity" to take some fun photos of me and Mr. Opportunity!! In the last pic is our wonderful salesperson who was having fun with us too!! HA HA

Happy Fall!!

I found this cute digital image at Etsy at Plan F Studios. ACMoore had the candy corn Nestie and with a 40% off coupon it was only $10 :). I made this card and I think it came out really cute don't you?

Shopping for a new car is not my favorite thing to do ...

Thursday we decided we would look for a new car for me. My Toyota van has over 140,000 miles on it. I am tired of my "mommy van". I now want a "car". We went to Honda and test drove 3 new cars. I love love the Honda Accord EX. I have had a few Hondas in my day and my Honda Prelude was my favorite cars of all. They last forever!! Anyway, we spent about 4 hours at the dealership on Thurs and could not agree on anything. On Friday, we decided to try another Honda dealership, north of us. Again, spent several hours there and again, could not come to terms. So ... its now Saturday. No new car, I still have my van. Each of them want me to bring in my van to get another look at it since we are trading it in for a car ... why? They already looked at it. Neither of us want to bother and I think if we take it in again they are going to give us LESS for the van so why do we want that? Oh well.

On a better note, Emily decided to come home for the weekend. Its great to have her home. She brought 2 big laundry bags FULL OF DIRTY CLOTHES so you can guess what i have been doing for 2 days!! Nicholas's soccer starts today so we will do that later today. Soccer season goes till the end of November ...

Time for a halloween card

I've been so busy making washer necklaces, I haven't stamped a card in awhile. With the mornings getting a little cooler, I decided it was time to think about Halloween. I love making Halloween cards and found this cute pumpkin shaped one so I decided to CASE it. Came out cute don't you think?

I hand drew my pumpkin, then cut it out. I put it through my cuttlebug using my Distressed Stripes folder. For the stem I used my SU round tab punch and put that through the cuttlebug too using the mosiac embossing folder. Stamps by Hero Arts and the "Halloween scene" is unmounted but I don't know the brand. I also used my Martha Stewart bat punch.

Its Debbie's kidney's 8th birthday today!!

8 years ago my sister Debbie got a kidney transplant. Every year I send her a card celebrating her kidney's "birthday". Did you know a kidney is the shape of a jelly bean? This is the card I made her this year. In purple of course (her favorite color!)

Emily's classes have started and the open house at the high school is tonight for Nicholas ...

Emily had 1 class yesterday and 4 classes today so she is getting right in the swing of things!!

I have had ALOT of washer necklace orders lately from all of my wonderful friends. Thank you, thank you!! I have sold 29 necklaces so far so that is awesome!! I have decided to do my first craft show on Oct 2nd in Harrisburg. Its at the United Methodist Harrisburg Church from 9-3 and this is their 20th year. 600 people are expected to come so I better get busy and make some washer necklaces!! Here is what I have so far ... Charlie is helping me plan what my table display will look like :).
I also got an order of 4 "memorial necklaces". My friend Terry in California had a very tragic thing happen to her. Her young son (in his 20's I think) passed away unexpectedly and she wants a few memorial necklaces made of him. She emailed me his pics and I am working on them right now. They are coming out quite nice. I hope she likes them.

Emily is college bound !!!

(Click on photos to see them bigger)

Monday August 16th was the big move in day! What an experience it was!! Charlie, Nicholas, Emily and I all headed out at 6:30 am. Got to UNCP at 8:45. The place was PACKED with people moving in all at once. We went right up to the desk and got her room key. No lines! We had no idea where her building was so we got in a line of cars that SEEMED to be miles long. It would inch along for awhile, then stop. We started to unload the car and I stayed in the drivers seat while Charlie, Emily and Nicholas unloaded the car. Finally, about 8 girls came up to us and said "Do you need any help?" Of course we did. They were like angels showing up!! LOL They took a ton of stuff up to the room for us. Nicholas and Charlie continued to get the big stuff out while I inched the car up one car at a time. Finally, we didn't move for awhile when we had noticed someone in the front of the line had parked and left her car there for about 20 minutes. We sat there in this line not able to move. We had decided at this point NOT to bring up the loft bed. We felt the room was too small for it to fit so we left it in the car and will return it back to Walmart. So ... finally, we took everything (all but the bed and the 2 ladders Charlie had built out of wood!) out of the car and I made a u-turn and found a place to park. The lines to the elevator were super long so we brought up what we could up the 4 flights of stairs. I remembered Emily had a case of water in her car so I found this boy, Andrew and he helped me carry it up the stairs. Thank goodness for Andrew!!!

We had everything in by about 11 am I think. Then we put everything away, made her bed, Charlie hooked up her cable tv, her computer, her printer and her fridge. We went to the bookstore to get her a lock for her apple computer. They had one for $30 so we didn't think that was too bad at all. I decided then and there, it was time to leave. I tried real hard not to cry but all of a sudden the tears started and then Emily started. We each just cried a little bit and then we left. She seems very happy and is staying very busy.
Her roommate Katie is from New Hampshire. She is super nice and the girls are getting along just wonderful. They found each other on Facebook!!

We are so proud of her.. Here are a few pics I took. The before and after pics of the car packed is just what it says - Before means before we left. After means on our way back. It looks like the car has MORE on the way back, don't you think? HA HA HA

I just realized I never posted what I sent Debbie for her early birthday present this year

Some of you may or may not know that Debbie, my sister, is CRAZY about CANDY CORN. Every Halloween, she brings out many, many, many candy corn items that she has collected over the years and I feel its my duty as a big sister to give her more candy corn things each birthday. This year I wanted to send them to her early since I made her the CUTEST candy corn necklace!! I also managed to find candy corn soap at Bath & Body Works so i had to send that too. She also loves pumpkin pie like me so I sent her a pumpkin pie necklace too. I can't wait to wear mine around Thanksgiving!! LOL

Happy Birthday Aunt Charlie!

I made these cards for my wonderful Aunt Charlie. She turns the big 7-0!! For the first card, I used a digital image by: Bugaboo Stamps. Her name is Stella and they have some really funny images on that website. On the 2nd image, I decided to leave most of the image in black and white and I colored her dress lightly with chalk. This stamped image is by Cornish Heritage Farms and is no longer being made by them. I have always loved this image.

Less than a week to go till Emily goes away to college

As you can imagine, we are busy, busy, busy. Packing, cleaning out, buying even more stuff for her dorm. She is also taking with a loft bed which is the top part of a bunk bed. We thought she was taking Nicholas' old bed but it was too low to fit her desk underneath so we bought another whole new loft bed at Walmart. It was only $107 so that's a pretty good deal. The stairs climbing up to the top are really hard so Charlie decided he would BUILD some steps out of wood!! He is actually building 2 sets of stairs. One for Emily and one for her roommate. He spent most of the day today doing that and now he will paint them black tomorrow to match the bed. I think we will start packing Sunday and then head out bright and early on Monday morning around 6 am. How we are all going to get out of here that early is beyond me but I want to be there around 8-8:30 so Emily can pick up her key and then we can get everything moved in before it gets too hot.

I have gotten a few more washer necklace orders. I made a few US Marine Mom necklaces and a US Marine necklace. They are drying now so I will take pics before I send them on their way to FL and Washington state.
